Ah Neh
Sunday, September 21st, 2008We went to Sembawang God of Wealth temple today. Our mission? To pray to the famous philosoper Confucius. Ah Gong has been telling us for the past few weeks that he wants to bring you there.
It was an extremely hot day. You can tell from your rosy cheeks in the photos below. The photos also revealed your first little tooth. =)
When we reached the temple, it’s crowded. We queued up to pay and register for you. During the registration, the person-in-charge asked for your exam period. Since you have not attended any school, he wrote ‘聪明’ on the candle. The reason why he asked is they will light up the candle just before the exam period.
After registration, we were brought to the central hall where all children congregated for the prayers. You were the youngest among all the children. The other parents must be wondering how KS your Papa and Mama is. haha…
During the prayers, you keep reaching out to pull a Gor Gor’s punky hair. You made sounds to distract the children around you. So mischievous..
After the prayers, we proceeded to go around the temple, stopping to pray now and then. Towards the end, we were asked to ring a bell and scooped water to wash down a status standing at a corner of the temple.
So why pray to Confucius? Because he placed much emphasis on the importance of study, self cultivation, attainment of skills, respect of elders by children, strong familial loyalty and many more…
Confucius well-known principles..
‘Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself’
“When you have faults, do not fear to abandon them.”

See my white tooth!
